Getting start with Primo Research Assistant
Primo Research Assistant (AI-powered)
1. User inputs natural language question.
2. Query conversion: A large language model (LLM) converts the user's question into a more conventional Boolean search query.
3. Search and retrieval: The Boolean query is sent to the Central Discovery Index (CDI) to retrieve relevant academic records.
4. Re-ranking: The top results are re-ranked based on relevance to find the five most suitable sources for the user's query.
5. Summary creation: The LLM creates a concise, 200–400 word summary, or "Overview," based on the abstracts of the top five sources. The summary includes in-text citations.
Delivery: The overview and sources are presented to the user. The user can also view more results in the standard Primo interface.
